The top two teams in each group go through to the semi-finals and also qualify to represent Africa at the Fifa U-20 World Cup 2013 to be played in Turkey from 21 June to 13 July.

The 2013 African U-20 Championship is the 19th edition of the African Youth Championship. The competition will take place in Algeria from March 16 to 30. The semifinalists will participate in 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
